Reviewing the guide will save you valuable time and significantly reduce potential issues. Zoom H6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Zoom H6 is both an audio recorder and an audio interface, allowing you to send microphone signals to your recording device (laptop, tablet, or phone). This makes the Zoom H6 an external microphone, delivering high-quality audio recordings. You can also connect external microphones or other audio sources directly to the Zoom H6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"prepare-your-computer\">2. Prepare your recording device<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure your device is fully charged or connected to external power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restart your device or, at minimum, close all apps except your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disable Wi-Fi, other networks, or enable flight mode to avoid interruptions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Windows users:<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoom.co.jp\/sites\/default\/files\/products\/downloads\/software\/E_H_and_F-Series_Multi_Track_ASIO_v2.1.0.19_1.zip\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zoom.co.jp\/sites\/default\/files\/products\/downloads\/software\/E_H_and_F-Series_Multi_Track_ASIO_v2.1.0.19_1.zip\">Download and install the H6 audio driver from this link<\/a>. If the file is zipped, right-click it and choose \u201cUnzip all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>3. Connect and power on<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the USB Micro-to-USB A cable to connect the Zoom H6 to your recording device. Mounting, connecting and phantom power<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Mount the microphone bar with adapters onto a microphone stand. <br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insert the microphones into the adapters.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the microphones to&nbsp;<strong>Input 1<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Input 2<\/strong>&nbsp;on the Zoom H6 using the included cables.<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong>&nbsp;The included microphones are condenser microphones and require phantom power (48V). Never use phantom power with ribbon microphones, as it can cause damage. Always switch off phantom power&nbsp;<strong>before disconnecting microphones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>5. Link Input 1 &amp; 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To link Inputs 1 &amp; 2 for stereo recording, hold down&nbsp;<strong>Input 1<\/strong>&nbsp;while pressing&nbsp;<strong>Input 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"490\" height=\"392\" class=\"wp-image-1224\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07.png 490w, https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07-300x240.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"choosing-komplete\">6. <strong>Zoom H6 as audio interface in DAW<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For computers only (skip if using a tablet or phone):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Reaper, macOS:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <em>Options &#8211; Preferences<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <em>Audio<\/em>, select <em>Device<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set Audio Device to H6<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>OK <\/em>to confirm.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Reaper, Windows: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">Choose <\/span><em style=\"font-size: revert;\">Options &#8211; <\/em>Settings\/Preferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <em>Audio<\/em> in left column, choose <em>Device<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audio system: ASIO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audio d<span style=\"font-size: revert;\">river: <\/span>H6<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">Close <\/span><em style=\"font-size: revert;\">Preferences <\/em><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">with <\/span><em style=\"font-size: revert;\">OK <\/em><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">button<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>macOS: Ableton Live<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <em>Live \u2013 Preferences\u2026<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <em>Audio<\/em> , set driver type to <em>CoreAudio.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set<em> Output Device and Audio Input\/Input device<\/em> to H6<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Windows: Ableton Live<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <em>Options \u2013 Preferences\u2026<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <em>Audio,<\/em> set <em>Driver Type <\/em>to ASIO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set<em> Audio Device <\/em>to H6<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For other DAWs, check the manual for instructions on setting the audio input and driver to&nbsp;<strong>H6<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>7. Use Headphones to avoid feedback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect headphones to the Zoom H6 to disable its built-in speaker and avoid feedback (caused by the microphones picking up speaker sound).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"setting-the-recording-level\"><strong>8. Setting the recording level<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on input 1 &amp; 2 on Zoom H6<br><br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"490\" height=\"392\" class=\"wp-image-1224\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07.png 490w, https:\/\/kvidal.no\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Skjermbilde-2024-02-09-kl.-09.32.07-300x240.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a new stereo audio track in your DAW and ensure that the stereo mix from Zoom H6 are the input source of the audio track.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Record enable the track in your DAW and enable monitoring to hear the signal from the microphones through the headphones.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gently scrape the tip of the microphone while observing the input indicator at the audio track, or Zoom H6. Avoid Distortion and crackles<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Distortion and crackle on audio recording are often caused by CPU overload (recording device to busy). Increase the <em>Buffer size<\/em>, as explained below, to avoid distortion and crackles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Reaper<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: rgba(68, 68, 68, 0.2); font-size: revert;\">Go <\/span><em style=\"font-size: revert;\">Options &#8211; Settings\/Preferences<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <em>Audio<\/em> in left column, choose <em>Device<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable <em>Request block size<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower number i box to the right of <em>Request block size<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Apply<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Ableton Live<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Choose <em>Live\/Options &#8211; Preferences <\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <em>Audio<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable <em>Request block size<\/em>:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decrease the number to the right of <em><em>Request block size<\/em>: <\/em>to reduce latency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase the number to the right of <em><em><em>Request block size<\/em>:<\/em><\/em> to avoid distortion and crackles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"ORTF-Stereo-technique\">10. <strong>ORTF Stereo technique<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For stereo recording, we recommend the&nbsp;<strong>ORTF technique<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Use <strong>2 LA CM4 microphones<\/strong> with cardioid characteristics. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Position the microphones at a&nbsp;<strong>110\u00b0 angle<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>17 cm apart<\/strong>&nbsp;to capture a natural stereo field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Adjust position and angles slightly by ear to optimize the sound for the room and source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"distance-between-sound-source-and-microphones\"><strong>&nbsp;11. Microphone Placement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Position microphones far enough from the sound source to capture the full sound of the instrument or ensemble.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the distance to balance&nbsp;<strong>direct sound<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>room reverb<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"disassembly\">13. Disassembly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Turn off&nbsp;<strong>phantom power (48V)<\/strong>&nbsp;before disconnecting microphones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place microphones, adaptors and foam windscreens in cases. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fold the headphones before you\nput them in the case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the checklist to confirm the kit is complete at pick-up and return.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"help\">14.
